Athletics Track Installation. IAAF Certified. In-House Delivered.
Tuff Group designs and installs athletics tracks and multi-sport precincts for councils, schools, Little Athletics clubs, and elite sporting facilities across Australia. From school oval running tracks to full IAAF-certified 400m competition facilities, our in-house installation teams handle every surface synthetic turf, rubber, and acrylic under one contract.
Our Athletics Surface Capability
Tuff Group installs and maintains the full range of athletics surfaces used across Australian schools, councils, clubs, and elite facilities, from Little Athletics club ovals through to full 400m IAAF and World Athletics certified competition tracks.
Our capability covers new construction and full or partial resurfacing across rubber running tracks (full-pour, sandwich, and spray systems), synthetic turf oval tracks, long jump and triple jump runways, high jump and pole vault aprons, shot put and discus areas, and multi-sport infield turf. We also handle line marking and ongoing planned maintenance under the same contract.
Where most surfacing contractors specialise in one surface type, Tuff Group's in-house teams are trained and equipped across synthetic turf, rubber, and acrylic. For athletics precincts that combine a running track with hard courts, field event areas, and infield turf, that means one team, one contract, and one point of accountability from start to finish.
Proven at the Highest Level
St Kevin's College — Melbourne One of the most complex multi-sport builds in Australian private school history. Tuff Group took over from a previous contractor and delivered three FIFA-certified soccer fields, a National FIH-certified hockey field, a sandwich system athletics track, and multiple cricket wickets. Tight access, ambitious scope, nine months to completion.
Griffith Westend Sporting Precinct — NSW An IAAF athletics track as part of a landmark regional multi-sport precinct, alongside FIH hockey and acrylic netball courts. Built for councils, clubs, and community. Officially opened by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
Two projects. Two different scales. The same standard.
Athletics Surfaces We Install
Rubber running tracks Polyurethane rubber systems meeting World Athletics performance and safety standards. Available as full-pour, sandwich, or spray systems depending on competition classification requirements and budget. Suitable for council athletics stadiums, regional sports precincts, and secondary schools hosting sanctioned competition.
Synthetic turf running tracks Sand-filled synthetic grass systems widely used for primary school ovals, Little Athletics facilities, and community tracks where World Athletics certification is not required. All-weather, multi-sport capable, and significantly lower cost than rubber systems.
Multi-sport athletics precincts Most athletics facilities need more than a track. Long jump pits, shot put areas, high jump run-ups, infield turf, acrylic courts; Tuff installs the complete precinct under one contract. One team. No contractor coordination. Full accountability.
Who We Work With
Councils and local government We understand the procurement process, tender documentation, compliance evidence, World Athletics classification requirements, and the need for defensible spend. Our project history and certifications support the business case at every stage.
Schools — primary and secondary From Little Athletics school carnivals on synthetic turf ovals to competition-grade rubber tracks at secondary colleges, we deliver surfaces that work for PE programs, school carnivals, and community use. Built during school holidays. Minimal disruption.
Sporting clubs and athletics associations Club-level facilities often need to meet minimum standards for sanctioned competition while working within tighter budgets. We help clubs and their council partners find the right surface for the classification they need.
The Full Picture: Installation and Maintenance
The surface system is only part of the equation. Tuff Group's SignatureCare™ planned maintenance program keeps tracks safe, compliant, and performing for years longer than unserviced facilities and provides the documented maintenance history councils need for warranty protection and future grant applications.
